Water Conservation

Our knowledge of facility management and building operations assists us in targeting water conservation practices that will allow your facility to operate efficiently and effectively, resulting in cost savings.  Smart water conservation management starts with establishing a baseline, benchmarking your facility against like facilities, and developing strategies for reduction of water consumption.  That strategy encompasses building systems, operation and maintenance improvements, water audits, and building modifications and upgrades that promote both water conservation and use of financial resources.

Water Audits

We have saved our clients water and money through water audits! In most cases, a water audit is required to understand how and when water is used in a facility and to identify potential savings.  A typical water audit reviews domestic, sanitary, landscaping, and process water use.  It includes identifying water consumption, identifying opportunities for water savings in operations and metering.  FEA will identify water saving opportunities that will require little to no cost to you and capital intensive projects which can be analyzed to determine payback.  In addition to identifying water and cost saving opportunities, FEA can assist federal facilities in understanding how they are complying with the Executive Orders and/or how your facility meets the water category requirements within USGBC's LEED-EB Operations & Maintenance rating system.

FEA, in partnership with the IFMA Foundation, has released a "How-to Guide" entitled "A Comprehensive Guide to Water Conservation: The Bottom Line Impacts, Challenges and Rewards" that was created to help facility managers and owners understand current water issues, benchmarking and evaluation, and reduction of water consumption.  To read more and download the guides for FREE, click on the link below.
