Karrick Hall Environmental Site Assessment
Washington, D.C.
Facility Engineering Associates (FEA) was engaged by Heery International, Inc. to perform a comprehensive environmental site assessment of Karrick Hall in Washington, D.C.
Karrick Hall is a D.C. government-leased building on D.C. Hospital property. The environmental site assessment included a Phase I environmental site assessment (ESA), an asbestos-containing materials (ACM) survey, lead-based paint (LBP) survey, and lead-in-water sampling.
The Phase I ESA included a review of geologic and hydro-geologic conditions, historical research, regulatory record search, area reconnaissance, and a detailed site inspection. The Phase I ESA led to an extensive review of nearby leaking underground storage tank sites.
After completion of the ACM and LBP surveys, FEA became involved in the preparation of abatement specifications for ACM and LBP in areas of deterioration or planned renovations. FEA provided oversight during abatement activities and acted as a liason between the client and regulatory agencies.
