Project Profile
University of Georgia
Athens, GA
Facility Engineering Associates, P.C. was engaged to provide facility and infrastructure management technology consulting and implementation services for The University of Georgia. FEA’s first tasks included reviewing the strategic business plan, organization process documents, organizational hierarchy, and reporting structure of the Finance & Administration office and UGA Physical Plant (UGAPP). The purpose of the evaluations was to ensure efficient and effective procedures were in place prior to implementing new maintenance management systems. FEA staff then embarked on a system needs and process analyses to determine the true facility management and maintenance technology needs of the UGAPP.
The project required migrating data from IBM 3600 legacy mainframe systems with a number of stove-piped applications into a new facility maintenance computer database program. FEA worked closely with UGAPP’s facilities and construction groups, information managers, university architects, financial administrators, and all levels of UGA management. FEA drafted and presented a strategic automation plan and technology implementation plan including an RFP for which the UGAPP will use to acquire their new CMMS/CAFM.
FEA developed a public relations and education program for the UGAPP to inform and update all staff on the needs and benefits of the new system. We developed a shortlist of potential CMMS/CAFM systems based on their needs and supported the selection and contracting of a new system. The final phase included the implementation and migration of legacy data into the new maintenance management system.
