Project Profile

Towers Condominium Concrete Pavement Rehabilitation
Washington, DC

Pavements, Towers Condo, Washington, DCFEA provided specifications for removal and replacement of a concrete loading dock driveway at this community. The driveway was the only entrance for deliveries and moves at the west tower. It had lasted approximately 40 years and the Board was seeking a design with this in mind. FEA provided a design that was even more durable than the original to minimize the need for work outside of routine maintenance in the future.

FEA provided bidding services and performed contract administration during the project to check for comformance with the design intent. Concrete testing was performed throughout the project. FEA reviewed submittals, payment applications, and led progress meetings with the contractor and client.

FEA also participated in removal of an underground storage tank adjacent to the driveway that was no longer in use. Local ordinances required that the tank be removed. FEA planned for removal of the tank prior to replacement of the driveway so it was not damaged by heavy truck traffic. The surrounding soils were checked for contamination prior to placement of fill and a summary report was issued.
