All FM professionals need assistance when it comes to telling their story, selling their budgets and conveying the true value they bring to the organization. Becoming a high-performance facility management organization requires consistent, accurate data; but what should you be gathering? How do you gather it and what should you do with it when you get it? Why is data needed? What decisions do you need to make? What data do you need to make those important operational decisions? What data is already available? Do you know the proper level of data needed and why? Can software (CMMS/IWMS) assist you in answering these questions? What benchmarking resources are readily available? What KPIs are most important to capture, leading you to better data-driven decision making? How can you translate all of this data to your Balanced Scorecard? This session will answer these important operational questions. Bring your own questions about benchmarking and the importance of data-driven decision making.

Learning Objectives:
1. Better understand how to use data in decision making
2. Understand what questions to ask to choose services/products
3. Review how to better communicate accomplishments and future opportunities using benchmark data
4. Comprehend how to select the right KPIs that make sense for your organization

Laurie at NFMTFacility management reports focus on measuring and monitoring systems and are designed to tell us how much work we’ve accomplished, how many projects we’ve undertaken, and how we spent our organization’s money. But we often get caught up in the data and miss making the information relevant to our work, meaningful to our staff, and useful to our organization. Instead, our metrics should be aligned with our organizational drivers. It is then that we see the value of our metrics and KPIs in our FM reporting. Case studies will be utilized to demonstrate how organizations advance toward excellence in facility business operations.

Learning Objectives:
1. Understand the role of organizational drivers in choosing KPIs
2. Choose the right metrics and KPIs
3. Identify the elements of a good facility management report – who are your stakeholders and what do they need to hear?
4. Use the report to demonstrate alignment with organizational mission.

Let’s build excellence, together.
