Commissioning and Retro-Commissioning

  Commissioning
The goal of commissioning is to verify that new building systems
are installed and operating according to the design intent.
Commissioning improves energy efficiency, thermal comfort,
and indoor air quality, and reduces maintenance costs. Whether
your goal is to achieve LEED certification for you building,
or to ensure that you have an overall well-performing building,
FEA can help you through the commissioning process.
Retro-Commissioning
The goal of retro-commissioning is to verify that existing building systems are operating in accordance with the owner's
requirements. By reviewing the original design criteria and current
system performance, we can help you improve the performance of
existing systems, recognize system problems, correct problems
that may reduce the useful life of equipment, and identify opportunities
for energy savings that reduce operating costs.
A
commissioning or retro-commissioning plan typically addresses
mechanical and electrical equipment performance, HVAC system
air balancing, exterior air ventilation, thermal comfort,
HVAC and lighting controls, and fire and life safety systems.
