Business Continuity (BC) planning provides guidance for ensuring the ability of your personnel to respond, resume, and restore to a pre-determined level of operation following a disruption. Business Continuity planning makes financial sense and should be incorporated into every business, regardless of size or operation. Although some threats may have a low probability, through business continuity planning efforts, an organization can identify what the impacts of those threats are and put a plan in place to reduce those impacts, thus, ensuring the sustainability of their business.
We understand business resilience and it’s relation to facilities because we live it. FEA earned ISO certification under the 22301 Business Continuity Management Systems (BCMS) standard for our headquarters. ISO 22301 is the international standard for Business Continuity Management (BCM). It provides a practical framework for setting up and managing an effective business continuity management system to safeguard from a wide range of potential threats and disruptions. FEA’s corporate BCM policy covers the entire company and laid a foundation for business continuity strategy across the company. FEA pursued the certification to strengthen our organizational resilience, increase our ability to continue our business during a disruptive event, and to experience this the way our clients will. Everyone at FEA, in all of our offices is part of Business Continuity. Our BCMS plan is practical, pragmatic and long lasting and we can do the same for you. FEA is also certified in PS-Prep™. The PS program is a collaboration between the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the private sector with the intent of promoting organizational preparedness in order to enhance national resiliency.
What Is PS-Prep™?
In 2007, Congress directed the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to establish and implement the voluntary private sector preparedness accreditation and certification program. The result of this directive, PS-Prep™, is designed to improve the preparedness of private sector and not-profit organizations through conformance to consensus-based preparedness standards and best practices. PS-Prep™ enables organizations to identify and implement the necessary steps for instituting and maintaining a comprehensive management system that addresses business continuity, organizational resilience, emergency and disaster management. In addition, DHS will provide recognition for those entities that certify to the adopted preparedness standards.
PS-Prep™ is a voluntary program, primarily serving as a resource for private and non-profit entities interested in instituting a comprehensive business continuity management system. Incorporating three industry standards, PS-Prep™ offers organizations the opportunity to develop and maintain certification to nationally recognized and respected approaches to resilience and preparedness.
