Between 2004 and 2007, FEA provided Jones Lang LaSalle Americas, Inc. with consulting services related to the rehabilitation of the marble and limestone façade at the Evening Star Building in Washington, DC. FEA performed a hands-on exterior assessment to identify loose or deteriorated components of the façade, and gain information necessary to perform a full-scale façade rehabilitation. The primary goals of the rehabilitation were stabilizing and preserving the existing façade elements, restoring some ornament detail, remedying water infiltration issues, and enhancing the appearance of the façade. FEA developed construction documents for repairs and rehabilitation of the historic façade and assisted the client in obtaining the building permit and necessary permissions from the local historic andneighborhood regulatory commissions. During construction, FEA provided contract administration services including site visits, progress meeting organization, submittal review, and technical consultation. Following successful completion of the façade rehabilitation, FEA provided similar engineering consulting services for a below-grade parking garage repair and restoration project at the same property.
